About the Garden Project

The Pat Plaxico Gardens, completed and dedicated in April 2014, are named in honor of designer and long-time Library board member Pat Plaxico. The garden includes several outdoor spaces which lend themselves to meeting areas. Six sculptures, all of different genres, enhance the beauty of the gardens and add to any meeting or outdoor function.

The sculptures, plantings and landscape materials, made possible by donations, unify the Library’s interior and exterior, making the new campus ideally suited for hosting furniture and design industry groups and events. The Pat Plaxico Gardens were designed by Sally Pagliai of Studio Pagliai, Greensboro, NC.

To schedule your next meeting or event in the Pat Plaxico Gardens please email Karla Webb, Library Director at info@furniturelibrary.com. We encourage you to visit the Library and feel free to walk the gardens where students, designers, and all visitors with an interest in design, can find inspiration.

The Library continues to accept donations for the Pat Plaxico Gardens. Your gift will fund continual maintenance, add sculpture and provide seasonal plantings.

Pat Plaxico has been a valuable friend to the furniture industry, the design community, the Bernice Bienenstock Furniture Library, and the Bienenstock family for many years. I am pleased that the Pat Plaxico Gardens at the Library will give permanent recognition to her talent and generous spirit. The Gardens will be a wonderful place where students, designers, and all visitors with an interest in design, can find inspiration.
Russell Bienenstock, Board Member
